Your ABA Questions—Answered

Getting Started

How do I start the process with Bright Path ABA?

The journey begins with a simple conversation. You can call us, email us at info@brightpathaba.com, or fill out the contact form on our website. We will then schedule a complimentary, no-obligation consultation with a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to discuss your family’s specific needs.

What documents do I need to provide?

To get started, we typically need a copy of your insurance card, a prescription or referral for ABA therapy from your child’s doctor (if required by your insurance), and any recent diagnostic reports or evaluations (e.g., psychological, speech, or school-based reports).

How long does the intake process take?

The timeline can vary depending on insurance authorization, but our dedicated intake team works diligently to make it as smooth as possible. On average, the process from initial contact to the first therapy session takes about 2 to 4 weeks.

Can I take a tour of your facilities?

Absolutely! We encourage families to visit our centers in Staten Island and East Brunswick. Please contact us to schedule a personal tour to see our learning environments and meet some of our team members.

Our Services

What types of ABA therapy do you offer?

We offer comprehensive ABA therapy services that can be provided in our centers, in your home, or in your child’s school or community. Our goal is to help children generalize skills across all settings where they live, learn, and play.

What is Early Intervention?

Our Early Intervention program, also known as the “Bright Beginnings” program, is designed for toddlers and young children (typically 18 months to 5 years). It uses play-based ABA therapy to build foundational skills in communication, social interaction, and school readiness.

How does Parent Training work?

Parent and caregiver training is a cornerstone of our approach. Our BCBAs work directly with you to provide hands-on coaching, practical strategies, and support so you can confidently implement learning opportunities and manage challenging behaviors outside of therapy sessions.

Do you offer social skills groups?

Yes! Our social skills groups bring together small, age-appropriate groups of peers to practice vital social interactions in a structured and supportive environment. Topics include conversation skills, cooperative play, perspective-taking, and emotional regulation.

Insurance & Billing

Which insurance plans do you accept?

Bright Path ABA is proud to be an in-network provider with most major insurance plans, including Aetna, Cigna, Horizon BCBS, UnitedHealthcare, and various state Medicaid plans. Please contact us for a full list and to verify your specific plan.

Will you handle the insurance authorization process?

Yes, our administrative team handles the entire process for you. We submit all necessary documentation for prior authorizations and re-authorizations, and we will advocate on your behalf to help you secure the coverage you are entitled to.

What if my insurance is not on your list?

If we are not in-network with your insurance provider, we can discuss private pay options. We can also provide you with a “superbill” (a detailed invoice of services) that you may be able to submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

What are my responsibilities for co-pays and deductibles?

Families are responsible for any co-pays, co-insurance, or deductibles as determined by their insurance plan. Our billing department will provide you with a clear statement and can set up a convenient payment plan if needed.

Scheduling & Hours

What are your hours of operation?

Our centers are typically open from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM on weekdays. In-home therapy sessions can be scheduled with more flexibility, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate your family’s routine.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that life happens! We ask for at least 24-48 hours’ notice for any cancellations to allow us to adjust schedules accordingly. Consistent attendance is key to progress, and we will work with you to find a schedule that is sustainable for your family.

Progress & Outcomes

How do you measure my child's progress?

Progress is at the heart of what we do. We use data-driven methods to track your child’s skills on a daily and weekly basis. Your BCBA will analyze this data to ensure the treatment plan is effective and make adjustments as needed.

How often will I receive updates?

Communication is constant. You will have regular check-ins with your therapy team after sessions. Additionally, you will have formal team meetings with your BCBA at least once a month to review progress reports, discuss goals, and collaborate on the next steps.
